A Sample of Sailing Ships Built in Thomaston

Ship Eliza McNeil, 1583 tons, E. Watts, builder. Launched in 1871.

Schooner Charles F. Heyer, 323 tons. Builder, Amos Walker. 1870.

Ship Baring Brothers, 2,165.97 tons at O'Brian yard, 1877. Schooner Seventy-Six, 196.77 tons, built in 1864 by Walsh & Simmons is in foreground. In 1898 the Baring Brothers was intentionally set on fire by dissatisfied seamen.

The launching of the Thomas S. Dennison in 1900. Built by Dunn & Elliot, it weighed 1,329 tons.

At Washburn yard in 1900 the Schooner Joseph B. Thomas was launched. Weight: 1,564 tons.

Built by Jas. A. Creighton in 1890, the Susie M. Plummer, at 808 tons, carried a deck load of lumber.

Bark Caroline O. Small, on the stocks, was built in 1870 and weighed 733 tons.

Ship Samuel Watts, 2,035 tons, built by S. Watts. Photographed in 1870.

Schooner Etta M. Barter, 272 tons, Walker, Dunn & Co. builders, pictured in 1873.
